English & Media Faculty

The English and Media Studies Faculty is made up of a dedicated team of staff. At GCSE the Faculty offers English Language and English Literature and Media Studies and at A-Level English Literature and Media Studies.

We offer a wide range of enrichment activities to our students to help enhance their appreciation and enjoyment of the subject. Recently Year 13 students attended a lecture given by the renowned English Language academic, Professor David Crystal; Year 10 students were enthralled and inspired by a lecture given by the former SAS soldier and now successful author Andy McNab; in the new year, GCSE students will visit the Lowry Theatre in Salford to watch Stephen Daldry’s critically acclaimed production of J.B. Priestley’s play, ‘’An Inspector Calls’’ and the Carnegie Award winning author, Patrick Ness, met with the Year 9 Book Club o talk about his recent novel, ‘’The Rest of Us Just Live Here’ as well as his other well-loved books, ‘’A Monster Calls’’ and ‘’Chaos Walking’’ trilogy.

The English and Media Studies Faculty are enthusiastic participants in the annual Big Book Quiz.
