Year 8 Curriculum

Our curriculum in Year 8 is designed to set the foundations for learning so that students can make the best, most rapid progression in their learning.  The subjects they study build on their learning from Year 7 and set them up well for making their option choices at the end of Year 9 before starting GCSEs and BTEC courses.

Students will study:

Expressive Arts Carousel

6 weeks double Art / 12 weeks of 1 x Drama and 1 x Music.  This is rotated through the year.

Mathematics

4 Lessons

Creative Design

2 Lessons

Science

4 Lessons

Modern Foreign Languages

Four Lessons (2 x French & 2 x German)

Computing

1 Lesson

PE

Geography

Form Period

In Year 8 all students study French and German.

Year 8 House System

In Year 8 we have a house system for young people.  The houses are:

- Jenner
- Pilkington
- Mills
- Dewhurst
